In all efforts to remain neutral and unbiased Jammer Direct will forever remain banner ad free. This site is not about making money. I have no intention of making Jammer Direct a part of corporate America. I have every intention of making Jammer Direct a part of street America. Everyone who wished to join Jammer Direct, whatever their talent, is welcome with open arms.
The features of Jammer Direct ,as well as the site itself, are for the sole purpose of self promotion of your talents free of charge.
Here are the main features that are at your disposal.
Your Jammer Profile.
By simply creating your own Jammer Profile, you are creating your own website to promote your creativity in any way you see fit. Even the URL of your Jammer Profile is jammerdirect.com/yourname! When you create your profile, it comes preconfigured with a set of instructions that you can delete after you feel comfortable. You can also elect to keep your profile private until you feel it is ready to show the world. You can add virtually anything using the Text/HTML feature in your profile but I have configured several features ready for you to use including a media function, Jammers(friends) list, links, feed/RSS, profile details, galleries, and a blog. There is also a message center for you to send private messages to other Jammers.
Jammunity
Jammunity is, in essence, the downtown for Jammers. From there you can browse/search for other Jammers, check your messages, check out the different media channels in JamMedia, chat in the JamChat, learn how to customize your profile in JamHacks, get free extras in JamExtras, ad your events to JamEvents, or contact me for feedback on this site.
Jammer of the Month
But wait, theres more!!! This is a section I created just for the simple reason of taking any of you who took the time to be a Jammer to recognize you one at a time for your work. Every month, a Jammer will be selected at random and the site will be retailored just for them. This means the Splash page, site header, and the Jammer of the Month section itself will display and advertise the work you have submitted to Jammer Direct. And after your month is up your JotM page will be archived and viewable forever.
About this Site
I started construction of Jammer Direct on July 1 2007. I am using Microsoft's .NET technology with MSSQL 2005 as the database structure. This site utilizes asp version 3.
This site resides on a series of dedicated Dell Dual Intel XEON Servers. These servers feature 4GB of RAM, 4TB (4000 GB) of storage each, and an independant MS SQL 2005 server. This is what allows the site to store the amount of media that it independantly holds. Needless to say, this becomes quite expensive.
How does this get paid for while allowing the site to remain free? This is a labor of love more than anything else.
